Wow. For a beer with a pedigree like this, this beer was super disappointing. Super sweet without enough bitterness to offset it. The aroma was underwhelming as well. I wouldn't bother buying this. 

Dogfish Head - Urkontinent

Not really a traditional dubbel. Some licorice & chocolate taste to it. Reminds me vaguely of Bell's Batch 9000. Nice enough. I'd get it on tap, but probably won't get another bottle.

Dogfish Head - 120 Minute IPA

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this and so it sat in the closet for a few months.

It is quite hoppy. Not the most bitter beer I ever tasted (which I was half expecting). Smells great though. It tastes pretty sweet. Like really sweet. And it almost has an anise flavor to it. Semi-strange.

Yet another brew that I've had but forgot to put up here.

This is a nice enjoyable brew. Really smooth. Really nice roasted malt flavors without a lot of bitterness.

Dogfish Head - Immort Ale

Woah. Heavily peated malts in this. Also sweet. Slightly dark fruity?

The peat malt is the overwhelming taste here. I'd pass if I saw it again.

Dogfish Head - Chicory Stout

This was surprisingly "mild" for a stout proclaiming it has coffee and chicory in it. Thinner body. More in line with a porter these days than a stout, but whatever. Its a fine beer that I wouldn't go out of my way to get again.

Dogfish Head - Pearl Jam Faithfull Ale

This was fairly disappointing, as it didn't really taste like Pearl Jam. Tasted like a particularly fruity belgian pale ale. Nothing special for the inflated price.

Sierra Nevada - Life & Limb

I'm very glad that I didn't buy a bottle of this from the last batch when I saw it for sale (twice) for $25. I picked this up for $10.

Smells slightly sweet and there's a hint of birch in the smell.

Its not as sweet as I thought it would be. Slightly malty, fairly smooth. A slight bitterness to the finish. Its honestly fairly nondescript.

I wouldn't recommend it.

Dogfish Head - Raison D'extra

Strong taste of raisin and dark fruit. The alcohol really comes out as it warms up.

It also made my nose severely stuffed up.

Dogfish Head Festina Peche

Years ago, Mandy and I went to a Dogfish Head brewpub in the suburbs in Maryland. We got some beer and realllly mediocre food. At one point, we ordered a larger bottle to split, and I think it may have been Festina Peche. At the time, we thought it was absolutely disgusting.

This actually smells pretty good. It doesn't taste repulsive. Its a little tart, and definitely peachy (sort of like a gummy-peachy-o). If you think your beer has been missing a peach candy flavor with some added tartness, this beer is for you.

Dogfish Head - Hellhound on My Ale

I like it a lot better than the disaster of that was the Mikkeller lemon IPA.

There's a mellow lemon flavor to it. Its not ridiculously bitter (which I thought it would be from the description on the bottle).

Eh, I'd save my money and pass if I saw it again.

Dogfish Head Olde School Barleywine - 2009

Okay, so maybe I didn't age this. The local beer store had this on their shelves. I think it was when from the brewer did a book signing last year.

This is freakin delicious. Not bitter at all. Lots of interesting fruity malt flavors. I wonder if this is this good when its fresh?

If you somehow run across a bottle that's two years old, I wouldn't hesitate to get it.

Dogfish Head Red & White

I have no idea how this is classified as a witbier on beer advocate. Although I guess it taste like someone poured a bunch of grape/wine syrup into a white ale (if i close my eyes).

I was hoping this would be similar to Goose Island's Sofie, but it really wasn't.

This was pretty sweet, with some fruitiness to it. There is something in it that my nose really dislikes, as its now completely stuffed up. Last time that has really happened (that I can remember) was with Founder Centennial IPA.

Would not buy again.

Dogfish Head - Sahtea

Actually pretty darn good. I like it the best out of any of the Dogfish weird beers. The chai tea and juniper comes together nicely (I was quite worried after the overwhelming juniper/gin smell). I'd actually recommend this one.

Dogfish Head Pangea

Saison du Buff

Dogfish Head version.

Still smells herby. This actually tastes better to me than the Stone version. Slightly more lemon flavor.

Dogfish Head Theobroma

Another one of the ancient ales or whatever they want to call them.

Supposedly brewed with honey (yes, you can taste it), cocoa nibs (nope), cocoa powder (nope again) and ancho chilies (maybe a little). Its not bad, infinitely more drinkable than the Midas Touch. Not out of this world or anything. Can probably skip buying a bottle.

This also marks the first appearance of my Ommegang glass that I was given as part of a beer week event. I had Rare Vos (okay), BPA (very tasty) and Scotch Ale (very smokey, more of a smoked porter than scotch ale, wasn't very malty). No Zuur to be found. Sad.

Dogfish Head World Wide Stout

Happy 100th Beer post on Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff (I think I counted correctly). Or at least posts tagged with "Beer". May have missed one or two in there. Meaning that maybe the Black Orchard or La Chouffe or some other random post was number 100.

Onto the beer.

Very, extremely boozy. Slight licorice and raisin taste. Not as thick as I thought it'd be.

Bonus Mandy Thoughts:
It looks like flat Coke. Smells like... I'm not really sure how to describe it. It smells like I won't like it. [Makes a terrible face]. Its too sweet. Tastes like a carbonated dessert wine, and not in a good way, obviously.

Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA

On draft

Nice and grassy hop flavors. Nice malt balance. Was once the official go-to IPA before Mandy and I discovered Two Hearted Ale.
