Still enjoyable. Decent amount of sweetness balanced by a nice bitterness.

DC Brau - Stone of Arbroath

This is maybe better than I remembered? Very malty. Slight chocolate flavor. A little bitter. Not a bad beer, but I'd sooner get a six pack for $10 than pay the $8 or $9 for the bomber of this beer.

Something about this beer just doesn't do it for me. I think probably the high abv, combined with the sweetness. Its fairly one note. I like my Belgian Pale Ales more refreshing than this. By far the worst non-barrel aged DC Brau offering.

Smells terrific. Very bitter. More on the grapefruit side of hoppy than the piney side. I'd buy it again. 

DC Brau - Oaked Penn Quarter Porter

Picked up this bottle after a tour of the brewery.

This is pretty tasty, but perhaps a little thin. I guess it is a porter though. The barrel aging isn't overpowering, which is nice. A subtle oakiness and hint of whiskey is present. It works well. Only complaint is it could use a little more carbonation.

Very light. Noble hops come through. Nice enough. Not sure I'd recommend it.

Also. Rant about beer names: Why the fuck would you name your beer this? I guess its not that ridiculous, but having to shout "I want a Your Favorite Foreign Movie" at a bartender is awkward for everyone involved in the transaction.

DC Brau - Barrel Aged Beers

I had these at Meridian Pint, part of a DC beer week event. There were about 6 DC Brau barrel aged beers on tap. Some of them were ridiculous (a barrel aged session IPA?) that I didn't bother to try.

Stone of Arbroath (Barrel Aged) - On the left
Some slight fruitiness comes through. Eh.

Hells Bottom (Barrel Aged) - On the right
The non barrel aged version is far superior. It gets a little lost with the whiskey/etc. Some roasted flavor. Eh.

DC Brau & Stillwater - Middle Name Danger

DC Brau - El Hefe

Not as much of a "hefeweizen" flavor as I remember. Its more like a happy middle ground between a hefeweizen and an american wheat ale. Its good. I wouldn't buy another bottle, but I'd get it on draft again.

Enjoyable, but not worth the price for a bottle. On draft it's a lot more reasonable and I'd get it again without hesitation. Not super bitter. Some biting grapefruit to it. Not super sweet. Just not worth $9 for a bottle.

Edit: There's word on the street that they're going to start canning this! This will be far and away the best beer they have regularly available. Hopefully its at $10 a six pack like their other brews are.

A lot more enjoyable out of the can than on draft. The few times I've had it on draft it's been too bitter for me. This was a little more restrained.

Could this be less bitter than corruption? Made with only falconers flight hops (which appear in The Public). I like it a lot better than the corruption. Less abrasive.

DC Brau - Public Ale

Ah. Finally got a six pack.

Still tasty. A nicely balanced pale ale. I think I got the six pack for $10. Its good, but I wouldn't pay any more for it. Its a good option at the bar for $5 or $6 though (comparatively).

DC Brau/Stillwater - NATAS

A dry chocolatey finish. Enjoyable enough. I was hoping for something comparable to the 25 to One (Folklore) which I liked a lot more.

Epic/DC Brau - Fermentation Without Representation

Fairly enjoyable. Slight pumpkin/squash taste (this may be imagined). Pretty sweet. Touch of vanilla.

DC Brau - Penn Quarter Porter

Pretty decent. I think I like the Port City porter better though.

I think this was the new recipe, they apparently tweaked it to make it slightly less hoppy and more malty. I think I liked the first recipe better. Still enjoyable though.
