Brooklyn Black Ops

I think if you handed me this without knowing what it was I wouldn't be able to tell it was barrel aged.

There's a fairly subtle vanilla taste. It is really bubbly, or at least, really small bubbles, thanks to the champagne yeast. Fairly bitter.

I'll have to say, it was not worth the money ($20). Definitely not, compared to say, Heresy ($12 four-pack) or KBS ($20 four-pack).

The bottle is really cool though.

Brooklyn Monster Ale - 2009

I don't know if its because its been sitting around for a year (on the back shelf at a Whole Foods) but there isn't a lot of hops present here. Pretty sweet with a toffee/caramel taste.

Not terrible. Not ridiculously good.

Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse

A lot lighter (in color) than either the Aventinus or Moonglow. Almost reminds me more of a belgian ale than a german (inspired/collaboration) brew. More lemon hop flavor than the weird banana/raisin flavor from a weizenbock.

Pretty good. I imagine it would be better if it was fresher. I found the bottle on the bottom rack at the store covered in dust.

Brooklyn Brewery Black Chocolate Stout

I'm still bitter they changed this from a 6 pack to a 4 pack last year and left the price essentially the same. I boycotted buying it last year.

I caved in this year.

Still has a nice roasted malt and coffee bitterness to it.

Brooklyn Sorachi Ace

I think this is what I wish Sam Adams Summer ale tasted like. Its really good. Its light and slightly lemony and is pretty bubbly.

Also, it has an awesome playing card kinda logo on the bottle.

Brooklyn Brewery IPA

Nice floral smell.

I actually drank a Club Lemonade (thank you Butcher Block) immediately before enjoying this, so I think my taste buds are a little off. It has a little more caramel taste than I remember, and its not overly hoppy. Maybe this is because I typically drink it out of a bottle (a "beer tasting" no-no).

I guess I just enjoy more hops in my IPA. This didn't have the bitter aftertaste that I'm looking for in an IPA.

Its good for its availability in NYC, but I won't be buying this after I leave here.

Brooklyn Summer Ale

Hmm. A little darker than most "summer ales", which I don't think is an actual type of beer.

I like it though, its maybe a little maltier than a lot of summer ales, but it still not too heavy for my tastes.

Its a good start to the summer beer season, much better than the Blue Moon summer seasonal that we had a few days earlier and will be written about at some point when I crack open the last one (I'm not in any rush).
