Schlafly American IPA

I like this one a lot. Well balanced between the malty sweetness and the hops. Not super bitter either. Great stuff. Up there with the Mikkeller Stateside IPA.

Mikkeller Simcoe Single Hop IPA

Another in the single hop line.

This one (like the Nelson Sauvin) is nicely balanced. Pretty bitter but with a lot of malt to back it up. Once again the biggest problem is the price. The Weyerbacher Simcoe Double IPA showcases the hops the same way at lower price.

Mikkeller Nelson Sauvin Single Hop IPA

Largest complain about this beer series is that the bottles are damn expensive.

I like this one a lot better than the Nugget Single Hop. Definitely not as brutally bitter. The taste is piney with a hint of citrus.

Crooked Line Detour Double IPA

[lost the photo]

Mandy picked this up at the beer store for me after I worked late one night.

A pretty standard double ipa. Maybe a little boozier than others.

Mikkeler Nugget Single Hop IPA

I bought three single hop ipas, a nugget, nelson sauvin and simcoe variety.

A lot more bitter than the standard Mikkeller IPA. I'm not sure I really like it.

Bonus Mandy Thoughts:
It's okay. Maybe a little bit of an apple juice taste.

Brasserie Dupont Avec les Bons Veux

[lost the photo]

I have no idea what the name means.

Wait, nevermind. The back says it means "best wishes" and its brewed specifically for "the holidays." Seeing how I bought the bottle in May, I'm not sure I'm enjoying it at the appropriate time of year.

A saison style ale. A slight sour taste? It has a slightly bitter finish. You can definitely taste the alcohol.

I think I liked the "original" Saison Dupont better.

Stillwater Artisan Ales - Stateside Saison

Tastes a lot maltier than the other saisons I've had. It's pretty tasty, and apparently he sends lots of variations of this on draft to DC (oak chips in barrels, chamomile, etc.). It was pretty expensive though for the bottle so I doubt I'll buy it again.

Bonus Mandy Thoughts:
It looks very bubbly. I think I like it.

Goose Island Bouron County Brand Coffee Stout

Along the same lines as this and this.

Pours a deep black with no head. The coffee is prevalent in the aftertaste, along with some bourbon. I think I liked the normal Bourbon County Brand Stout better, but this is still quite good. Heavy chocolate malts, slightly sweet, etc.

I guess I'm just not sure why I only came across a bottle of it in May when I'd rather be drinking something a little lighter.

Bonus Mandy Thoughts:
No. Just no. I can't really pinpoint what I don't like about it because there are just so many...

Heavy Seas Below Decks (Cabernet Barrel Aged)

Strong raisin taste. A subtle oak taste. This is pretty great. It has a strong boozy smell, but doesn't taste that strong.

Mandy's review was slightly less enthusiastic. "Tasted better than it smelled."
