Firestone Walker - 16th Anniversary Ale

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

This is nice enough. Very drinkable. Maybe a hint of the tequila barrels in the aroma. Its not exactly an imperial stout, but I'm not quite sure what to call it. Thin, not dominated by roasted malts, but there are chocolate notes there. Barrel aging definitely comes through. Certainly good, but I wouldn't get it again for ~$20 it cost.

Alesmith - Grand Cru

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

Its a belgian dark ale for sure. Super sweet. A hint of fruity esters. Decent.

Alesmith - Old Numbskull

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

Pretty enjoyable. Very malty & brown sugar flavors . Citrusy hops are there. Very drinkable considering the 11% abv. Very good, but again, you have to beat Bigfoot for the $ value which this doesn't.

Alesmith - Wee Heavy

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

This isn't my favorite style, but this is really tasty. Bordering almost on a barleywine (english style; not ridiculously hopped). The tasty is dominated by "sticky"toffee like flavors. Really enjoyable. I wasn't expecting much (because of the style), but this is really great. Highly recommended.

Alesmith - Horny Devil

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

Seems like a tripel that has coriander in it. Enjoyable enough but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it again.

Sam Adams - Chocolate Bock

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

Its chocolaty, but its thin and a little off. The chocolate does taste pretty good for what it is but I wouldn't go out of my way to get this.

Evolution - Lot #6 Double IPA

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

I'm beginning to think every brewery can make an IPA like this if they want. Average bitterness for the style. Just sweet enough. More grapefruity/sharp than tropical or piney. Very enjoyable. I think I like it better than the Hopslam I had last night on tap (gasp). Very good. I'd get it again.

Dogfish Head/Sierra Nevada - Rhizing Bines

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

Wow. For a beer with a pedigree like this, this beer was super disappointing. Super sweet without enough bitterness to offset it. The aroma was underwhelming as well. I wouldn't bother buying this.

Stone - Enjoy by 2.15.13 IPA

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

Gimmick IPA! (Opened on 1.19.13)

Smells nice. Galaxy hops or citra hops? [Apparently Galaxy & another hop that I forget.] There's a strong fruity mango smell. Taste is pretty bitter, still fruity. Very nice. Just enough sweetness. I'd recommend grabbing one of these if you see them.

Ommegang - Chocolate Indulgence

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

I usually love this style, but this is a little thin. I don't get a lot of chocolate or roasted malt from it. I'd pass. Folklore is far superior.

HUB - Noggin Floggin

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

This was a little disappointing. Hops were muted. Malt & yeast weren't that great. It's certainly drinkable and balanced, but nothing really stood out here.

Justice Brewing - StoutHearted

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

Another decent, enjoyable beer from Justice. Fairly light and dry belgian stout. Typical "magic marker flavors  from the yeast are present. Pretty enjoyable for the style.

Justice Brewing - Whiter & Nerdier

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

For being billed as a White IPA, its not very bitter. Its not a typical white ale though. I don't get any coriander or other weird spices except maybe orange or something acidic.

For all of my complaints, this is actually enjoyable. I wouldn't go through the trouble of buying another, but if you find yourself in the Pacific NW, it's certainly a nice beer.

Bonus Mandy Thoughts:
It has a taste of oranges and bandaids.

21st Amendment -Sneak Attack Saison

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

I still remember the first beer I had with cardamom in it (a seasonal by Magic Hat). I wasn't quite sure that I liked it. Five years later, I'm still skeptical. I'd pass (although the can art is once again fantastic).

Long Trail - Brown ALe

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

Its a brown ale. Nothing outstanding. Not terrible.

Bruery - Fruet

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

This could probably use a few years on it. Very strong alcohol burn (even though its at least 6 months old). No need to drink the entire bottle (although I did). Any dark fruit or barleywine-like flavors are just buried under the bourbon and heet. I actually liked the previous versions that weren't 100% barrel aged better. I'd get another bottle in the future, but I'd give it at least two years.

Capt. Lawrence - Imperial IPA

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

A fine example of the style. Nothing earth shattering though.

NEBCO - Sea Hag IPA

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

Pretty standard IPA, Moderately bitter. Piney. Nice enough. Wouldn't go out of my way for it again.

Port City - Oktoberfest

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

I really like the label...

A completely unoffensive marzen. Its on the less sweet, less malty side. Slightly watery. You could probably drink a lot of these, if that's your thing (maybe even out of a gigantic boot).

Green Flash - Friendship Brew

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

This is really not good. There's definitely mint and some other random spices in this. Does not work. Do not buy.

Great Lakes - Alchemy Hour IPA

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

Another beer to prove my theory that anyone can make a great IPA.

As it warms up the aroma really comes out. Great smelling beer, lots of tropical fruits.

Reminds me of the Schlafly Tasmanian IPA, but with more of a malt backbone. Good amount of bitterness. Lots of tropical fruit flavors. Recommended.

Maui - Sobrehumano Palena'Ole

From Joe Drinks Dinner and Stuff

Not bad. The passion fruit is really forward in the aroma, but is backed off in the taste. The fruit is a lot more mild than I anticipated. I thought this may be a little sour, but its just a touch of fruitiness.

Its fine. Nothing to go out of your way for.
